Saiyuen Summer STEAM Exploration Camp  

 

Are you preparing for your kids' long summer vacation? Sign up for the 3-day, 2-night "STEAM Adventurer: Saiyuen Summer Exploration Camp." In the safe and natural environment of Saiyuen in Cheung Chau, kids will spend a fulfilling three days with new friends.

 

At this exploration camp, children will inquire and think critically about science, technology, art, engineering, and maths within the context of nature, following the foundations of STEAM learning. Through individual challenges and group work, children will enhance their creativity, improve problem solving skills, and increase their teamworking abilities.

Sample Itinerary

 

Day 1: 

  • A first taste of wild cooking: campers make pizza from scratch, cooking it in our wood-fired earth oven
  • Follow Cheung Po Tsai’s historical trail in a pirate treasure hunt
  • Learn about the nocturnal world in a special nighttime eco-exploration activity 

Day 2:

  • Use engineering DIY Car Race
  • Team up to build a raft in this collaborative challenge 

Day 3: 

  • A physical and mental challenge: our signature tree top canopy walk and zipline
  • Examine the art of nature and explore its unique patterns and textures through our wood grain rubbing workshop

【Participant Sick Leave Policy】

  1. If a participant needs to take sick leave, please contact the Saiyuen Office via WhatsApp at (852) 5532-1993 as early as possible.
  2. Saiyuen will arrange a session rescheduling or refund for sick leave supported by a valid medical certificate issued by a registered doctor:
    2.1. An administration fee of HKD 500 will be charged for each session or camp period change.
    2.2. If the alternative dates provided for rescheduling are not suitable, parents may apply for cancellation and a 50% refund (applicable only before the activity starts).
  3. If a participant feels unwell during the camp and needs to leave early, parents must come to the campsite to pick them up and seek medical attention immediately. No refunds will be provided for the remaining period.
  4. If a participant is found to have an infectious or contagious disease during the activity, immediate action will be taken, including requiring the participant to leave the camp. No refunds will be provided.

【Class Arrangements Under Inclement Weather】

  1. When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 or the Yellow Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force, all activities will proceed as scheduled. If weather conditions become unstable, outdoor activities will be moved indoors. No rescheduling or refunds will be arranged.
  2. When the Hong Kong Observatory issues a Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above, or announces that Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above is expected to be issued (hereinafter referred to as "Inclement Weather Conditions"), all activities will be cancelled under the following arrangements:
    2.1. When the Education Bureau of Hong Kong announces the closure of all day schools, activities will be cancelled. Parents who are en route to the activity should make proper arrangements to take the participants home.
    2.2. If the above Inclement Weather Conditions are in force at 6:00 AM on the day of the activity, all activities will be cancelled, and arrangements for rescheduling the camp period will be made later.
    2.2.1. If the organizer decides to reschedule due to Inclement Weather Conditions, Saiyuen will arrange the camp period modification free of charge.
    2.2.2. If parents decide to change the camp period voluntarily under non-inclement weather conditions, Saiyuen will charge an administration fee of HKD 500.
    2.2.3. If the alternative dates provided for rescheduling are not suitable, the participation fee will not be refunded.
  3. If Inclement Weather Conditions occur during the activity, participants will stay in a safe indoor area and resume activities after the weather improves. The participation fee will not be refunded.
  4. The activity itinerary is for reference only. In the event of weather changes, Saiyuen will adjust the activities to ensure the safety and experience of both participants and instructors.
【Class Cancellation Policy】
  1. All activities and courses booked through Saiyuen are backed by a booking guarantee. Applications for class cancellation are not accepted.

【Participant Responsibility and Liability Disclaimer】

  1. Participants have a personal responsibility to follow all instructions given by Saiyuen instructors, campsite staff, or transportation personnel to prevent accidents.
  2. The itinerary includes designated washing and rest periods. Parents must ensure that participants are self-disciplined and comply with the camp rules. Leaving the campsite or activity area without permission will invalidate the insurance coverage, and the participant shall bear full personal liability.
  3. Due to the large number of people at the activity venue, if any outbreak of infectious or communicable diseases occurs during the activity period, participants and their parents shall not claim any refund or compensation from Saiyuen .
  4. Participants must take care of all personal belongings. Saiyuen shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage. It is highly recommended that participants clearly label their personal belongings and clothing with their names.
  5. The submission of the registration form constitutes full acceptance of all the above notices and terms by the participant, their parents, or their guardians.
  6. Participants must follow the instructions of the instructors, training camp rules, and campsite regulations. In the event of any violation or improper behavior, instructors reserve the right to terminate the participant's involvement to protect the experience and safety of other participants.
  7. Participants are advised to take personal anti-mosquito measures as needed. Please note that the campsite is located in a rural nature area and is a natural habitat for insects.

  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations/no-shows 
  • Program is subject to change for safety; parents will be notified of adjustments.  
  • Participants may be dismissed from the camp without refund for misconduct, including disruptive behavior or failure to follow safety guidelines, at the discretion of Saiyuen staff.
  • Participants are required to notify staff of any dietary restrictions or special accommodations in advance.   
  • Saiyuen reserves the right of final interpretation of the above terms and conditions.
